Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Christopher Paris revealed during a hearing that the man who opened fire at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13 and targeted former President Trump fired a total of eight shots. This information was shared with lawmakers during a session held by the House Committee on Homeland Security.
During the hearing, Rep. Eric Swalwel, R-Calif., inquired about the number of rounds fired by the assailant, Thomas Matthew Crooks, before he was fatally shot. Commissioner Paris confirmed that eight casings were recovered from the scene, indicating that Crooks had discharged eight rounds during the incident.
Interestingly, former Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, who had recently submitted her resignation, declined to provide a response to the same question posed by lawmakers during a separate House Committee on Oversight hearing held the day before.
