The Senate race in Pennsylvania between Democratic incumbent Bob Casey and Republican challenger David McCormick remains too close to call as the vote count continues.
A spokesperson for the Casey campaign, Maddy McDaniel, stated on Thursday that the vote tally in Pennsylvania is still ongoing. The race has narrowed significantly, with the margin shrinking by 50,000 votes, bringing it within the half-point threshold for automatic recounts in the state.
With tens of thousands of votes yet to be counted, the Casey campaign is focused on ensuring that every vote is accounted for. They express confidence that Senator Casey will ultimately secure re-election once the counting process is complete.
As of the latest count at 10:45 a.m. Eastern Time, McCormick holds a lead of approximately 31,000 votes. However, Casey has been steadily gaining ground as more outstanding votes are tallied.
At the time of the latest count, McCormick has garnered 3,335,987 votes, representing 48.95% of the total, while Casey has received 3,304,882 votes, accounting for 48.5%.
Casey, the son of a former popular governor, is seeking a fourth term in the Senate. His Republican opponent, McCormick, is a combat veteran and successful businessman.
