A Pennsylvania man is facing charges after police discovered his mother in a distressing condition inside a dilapidated home. Daniel Klein, 51, was arrested and charged with abuse of care and endangering another person following a wellness check by Upper Chichester Township Police.
The police responded to a home on Dresner Circle in Upper Chichester after a concerned neighbor reported packages piling up on the front porch and no response to knocks on the doors. Upon entering the residence, officers were met with a strong odor and piles of trash and packages throughout the home.
Upon locating Klein's mother in the master bedroom, officers found her lying unconscious in a bed covered in dried feces and maggots. She was also discovered to have ram's horn toenails and was 'fused' to the bedsheets. Medics were called to the scene and transported the woman to Crozer Chester Medical Center for evaluation and treatment.
Klein, who claimed his mother was sleeping, was arrested on charges of neglect and endangerment. He remains in custody at George Hill Correctional Facility after being unable to post the $50,000 bail.
This distressing incident serves as a reminder of the importance of regular wellness checks and vigilance in ensuring the well-being of vulnerable individuals. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding this case to ensure justice is served.
