A shocking incident unfolded in Pennsylvania as 30-year-old Zak Moyer was arrested and charged with criminal homicide in the brutal killing of his 59-year-old neighbor, Edward Whitehead Jr. The tragic event took place on the 200 block of Carbon Street in Lehighton Borough.
According to reports, police responded to an active assault where Whitehead was attacked by Moyer, who was dressed in a costume resembling the 'Scream' character. Whitehead suffered fatal injuries, including a large puncture wound to his head and cuts to his head and arms.
Authorities surrounded Moyer's home after surveillance footage captured him leaving Whitehead's residence. Following a negotiation, Moyer was coaxed out of his house and arrested. Shockingly, Moyer's sister revealed that he had discussed killing Whitehead a week prior to the incident.
During interrogation, Moyer initially claimed he intended to scare Whitehead with the costume and weapons but later confessed to the planned murder. He hid the chainsaw, knife, and costume inside his house for authorities to discover.
Moyer was arraigned on homicide charges and remanded to Carbon County Jail without bail. His preliminary court hearing is scheduled for April 3. In a bizarre turn of events, Moyer's father was also arrested for harassing the Whitehead family the day after Zak's arrest.
The community remains in shock and disbelief over the heinous crime. Whitehead's nieces expressed their devastation, emphasizing the horrific nature of the incident and the profound impact it has had on their family.
