WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — Alexander Nylander tied the game in the final minute of the third period before scoring the winner in overtime as the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins stunned the Toronto Marlies 3-2 in the American Hockey League Saturday.
Valtteri Puustinen scored the other goal for the Penguins (13-16-1-3), which trailed 2-0 heading into the third period. Puustinen and Juuso Riikola assisted both of Nylander's goals. Goalie Alex D’Orio stopped 22 shots.
Jack Kopacka and Mikhail Abramov scored in the first period for Toronto (17-12-2-1), which got 31 saves from Michael Hutchinson.
The Marlies are winless in their last three since winning six straight.
Toronto's two-goal lead held until Puustinen reduced the deficit at 3:03 of the third. Nylander tied it with 47 seconds to play. He scored his second of the game 1:44 into overtime, on the power play.
The Penguins were 1 for 2 with the man advantage while the Marlies failed to score on two power-play chances.
