Pele is back in hospital but his daughter has played down worrying reports surrounding the Brazilian football great.
The former forward is regarded by some as the greatest to have ever graced the pitch. He had a tumour removed from his colon in September 2021 and has since been in and out of hospital for regular treatment. ESPN Brazil have reported that the 82-year-old was having cardiac issues and that medical staff around him had showed concern that his chemotherapy treatment was not having results that were expected.
Daughter Kely Nascimento has said there is no need for panic as he continues to fight cancer. She posted to her Instagram account after the claims: "Lots of alarm in the media today concerning my dad's health. He is in hospital regulating medication. There is no emergency or new dire prediction. I will be there for New Years and promise to post some pictures."
Pele shone for Santos and New York Cosmos in his playing career but shone with the Samba Stars, winning three World Cups and a slate of personal honours to fully cement himself as one of world football's best.
