Pedro Porro breaks his silence on Tottenham deadline day transfer after Sporting CP breakthrough

Pedro Porro will finally complete his protracted move to Tottenham Hotspur on transfer deadline day. Heavily tipped to sign the talented right wing-back for some time, Spurs will now wrap up a deal for the 23-year-old after overcoming a late scare in their quest to sign the Spaniard.

With a deal with Sporting CP looking to be done and dusted and a medical tentatively scheduled in for Monday, the Portuguese club had a change of heart over the details of the transfer for Porro. The last thing Tottenham needed so late on in the transfer window in their quest to solve their right wing-back woes, the Lilywhites and their counterparts managed to come to an agreement on Monday evening.

Now set to undergo his medical on Tuesday, Porro will finally put pen-to-paper on a deal at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The ex-Man City man, who had already said his goodbyes to the Sporting fans after the Taca de Portugal final defeat against Porto on Saturday night, was absent from Sporting training on Monday following the news that his transfer was now in doubt.

Following another twist in the transfer saga with both sides settling on transfer terms much to the delight of the player, Porro opened up on his Tottenham transfer and why he didn't train when speaking to reporters at Lisbon Airport on Monday evening.

"I’m grateful to Sporting, I love the club," he told CMTV. "I didn’t train as I was only focused on the transfer to Spurs but I will always be thankful to the club."

Porro will become Tottenham's second signing of the January transfer window following Arnaut Danjuma's loan move from Villarreal. Both players will be in line to make their Premier League debuts for Tottenham this weekend when they host Man City in north London on Sunday afternoon.

Porro won't be the only deal which goes through at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on deadline day as fellow right wing-back Djed Spence will seal a loan switch to Rennes for the remainder of the season. Bryan Gil has already departed after linking up with former club Sevilla on a loan deal following a lack of regular football under Conte.
