Pedro Neto has already revealed Arsenal are his ‘favourite team’ amid growing transfer rumours

Pedro Neto has reportedly emerged as Arsenal’s key target during what remains of the summer window.

Gabriel Jesus might have had a transformative impact since his arrival in north London but Mikel Arteta has consistently claimed the club remain active to more arrivals should the right deal present itself.

Prior to his move to Barcelona, former Leeds star Raphinha was a target, indicating Arteta was still eager to add to a frontline to have already impressed this season.

With that in mind, Neto is thought to be a priority during the final few days of the window after the Wolves star returned from a long-term injury last season.

The 22-year-old made five Premier League starts last time out following a 10-month lay-off as a result of a damaged kneecap.

This season, the Portugal international has started all three of Wolves’ Premier League games, with Arsenal reportedly having seen enough to convince them into making a late move.

While Wolves will drive a hard bargain given the player has five years to run on his contract, perhaps Neto’s affinity to Arsenal could make a deal easier.

Speaking to talkSPORT in 2020, Neto said: “When I was a kid, my favourite team in England was Arsenal.

“Arsenal, yeah, because with Arsene Wenger I thought [even though] they didn’t win trophies, they played very good football.”
