Former Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha has been appointed as the new manager of Red Bull Bragantino - just three months after resigning from his previous job in Argentina.
The 52-year old is back in management after losing his job with Argentine side Talleres, who he had led to the last 16 of the Copa Libertadores for the first time in their history. However, despite his team's good showing in South America's prestigious competition, Caixinha was relived of his duties in September having won just three of his 16 matches in charge.
His time in Argentina got off to a bizarre start when he sported the team's strip at the press conference unveiling his appointment, and also claimed that he was the club's biggest fan. It was the fourth time he had been sacked in five years, having also lost his job with Al Shabab in Saudi Arabia and both Santos Laguna and Cruz Azul in Mexico.
But it was in a seventh month stint with Rangers in 2017 that the Portuguese manager endured his most torrid spell in management. After finishing third in the Premiership behind Celtic and Aberdeen, Caixinha's side were infamously knocked out of the Europa League qualifiers by Luxembourgian minnows Progres Niederkorn, which prompted Gers supporters to confront their manager after the game. He was then sacked the following October and became the shortest reigning manager in the club's history with just 229 days at the helm.
But the coach, who has also led teams in Uruguay and Qatar, has quickly found himself back in a job with Brazilian side Red Bull Bragatino. Originally named Clube Atletico Bragantino, huge energy drinks company Red Bull bought over the club in 2020 after the club have fell into administration. They immediately changed the club's colours from black which they had played in from their formation in 1928 to the trademark red and white colours of Red Bull. They also changed the club's official badge to incorporate the Red Bull emblem.
But under the Red Bull banner the club have quickly progressed to Brazil's top tier and Caixinha should be given a healthy transfer budget should be wish to add to the squad ahead of the 2023 season.
