A pedestrian has died after he was struck by a vehicle on a busy motorway in Sydney's south.

The man was hit about 7.20am on Sunday on the Hume Motorway at Woodbine, near Campbelltown, NSW Police said.

Paramedics treated the man at the scene but he died before he could be taken to a hospital.

His identity remains unknown.

A 48-year-old woman allegedly driving the vehicle was uninjured in the incident.

She was taken to Campbelltown Hospital for mandatory testing.

Police established a crime scene at the motorway and an investigation into the incident continues.
