Pedestrian dies after being hit by a car as police appeal for witnesses

A MAN has died after being hit by a car in Aberdeenshire.

Emergency services were called to the A96 Huntly to Inverurie road near Colpy at around 7.15am on Friday following the report of a collision involving a blue Ford Fiesta and a 76-year-old man

The man was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services.

The driver of the Ford Fiesta, a 26-year-old woman, was uninjured.

Police have confirmed that enquries into the incident are ongoing. 

Sergeant Sarah Ritchie of Police Scotland’s north east road policing unit, said: “My thoughts are with the family of the man who died and inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

“I would like to thank the members of the public that stopped and assisted at the scene.

“I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the crash or was in the area at the time and may have dashcam footage to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 0517 of February 21.”
