A man was taken to hospital in the early hours of this morning (February 20) following reports he was hit by a car.
At 12.30am, police received reports a 62-year-old pedestrian had been struck by a car on Whitley Road, in Whitley Bay.
“It was reported that a car had collided with a 62-year-old male pedestrian. Emergency services attended the scene and the pedestrian was taken to hospital with suspected minor injuries,” said a spokeswoman for Northumbria Police.
“The driver stopped at the scene and assisted police,” she added.
The injured man has since been discharged from hospital.
