A man was shot in Peckham in the latest of several gun violence incidents in the capital in recent weeks.

Police were called by paramedics who found the 25-year-old man shot in the leg in Bird in Bush road at roughly around 12.45am on Tuesday.

The shooting came just hours after a triple shooting in Brent however the gunfire in Peckham is not thought to be gang related.

The injured man was taken to a south London hospital where his injuries were declared to be neither life threatening nor life changing.

Chief Superintendent Colin Wingrove, the top police officer in the borough, said: “There is no information to suggest this attack is linked to gang activity.

“The incident is being investigated by detectives from Specialist Crime.”

Earlier that evening armed officers rushed to Dog Lane in Brent after reports a person had been shot at roughly 7pm. A teenage boy was found to have been seriously wounded.

A 21-year-old man and another gunshot victim, in his early 20s, were also injured.

Meanwhile, police have vowed extra patrols in an area of Hackney after two shootings were reported within hours of each other on Saturday.

The first incident occurred about 2.40am on Saturday when a man, in his 20s, was stabbed and shots were fired in Bohemia Place. He was taken to hospital and his condition is not life-threatening.

At 3.30am more gunfire was heard from a house in Corsley Way, with police vowing extra patrols in the area afterwards “to help residents feel safe”.
