A 17-year-old boy been charged with the murder of Jesse Lloyd-Smith after he was shot dead in Peckham.

The teenager was due to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Friday, said Metropolitan Police.

Jesse, 20, was shot in broad daylight on East Surrey Grove on WednesdaJuly 10 and died in hospital the following day.

A Gofundme page set up to support Jesse’s family described him as an “intelligent, caring, and loving soul” whose death has “left a huge hole in his family and friends’ lives”.

Michelle Newman, the fundraiser’s organiser, wrote: “All those that know Jesse, will know that he was the most incredible, intelligent, caring, and loving soul who lit up every room he entered.

“His kindness, thoughtfulness, and compassion touched everyone around him and he did not deserve to have his life cut short so abruptly, in such a tragic way.”

An investigation is being carried out by detectives and Jesse’s family are being supported by specially trained officers.

A man aged 21, a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl have all previously been arrested and bailed.
