David Pecker, the CEO of American Media Inc. (AMI), revealed in a recent statement that he had negotiated with Michael Cohen regarding the sale of lifetime rights to the McDougal story. Pecker explained that he valued the editorial work that McDougal would provide for AMI at $25,000, leading him to agree to sell the lifetime rights for $125,000.
According to Pecker, Cohen was eager to secure the lifetime rights on behalf of Donald Trump. Pecker mentioned that Cohen was in a rush to finalize the contract, stating, 'Michael Cohen wanted the contract yesterday, and this was going towards the end of September.'
Pecker assured Cohen that he would have the contract ready by the end of September. He viewed this deal as a means to recover some of the expenses he had incurred for Trump. Pecker elaborated, 'Yes, as I said, it was coming toward the end of the quarter, so I wanted to see if I could get funds refunded before September 30.'
