Peaky Blinders season 6 final: Plot, episode length and why season 7 was cancelled

Peaky Blinders will reach its conclusion on Sunday after six seasons.

Steven Knight's much-loved drama will air its final episode as fans wait to see what happens to the Shelby family. The synopsis for episode six is fairly vague but hints at repercussions for Tommy.

It reads: "A war veteran who fought in the trenches, Tommy Shelby has been a gangster, an entrepreneur, a captain of industry, a spy and ultimately a Member of Parliament.

"In the course of this odyssey, he has taken on numerous criminal organisations, business adversaries, foreign insurgents and the British Establishment itself.

"Now, in the 1930s, as the clouds of the coming storm gather, he faces the consequences of his experiences and his actions."

The final episode, which airs on BBC One on Sunday, April 3, will be the longest episode in length yet. Starting at 9pm, Peaky Blinder s will be on for one hour and 21 minutes.

Unfortunately for fans, the sixth episode in series six will be the final in the show. In 2018, Mr Knight said there would be a seventh series, but they are now focussing on a film.

He said: "The way these things are scheduled - it's like turning an oil tanker around. We just felt, also with the loss of Helen [McCrory], that it all seemed to be pointing towards doing what I'm calling 'the end of the beginning.'

"Let's end the beginning, then let's do the film. And then let's see where we go in terms of spin-offs.

"[The movie] is about a sort of untold story that happened in the Second World War, which Peakys are going to be involved in."
