Peaky Blinders' new series leaves some viewers in the dark

Peaky Blinders is back for its sixth and final series and while fans were glad to see it return, some complained they couldn't see as much of Tommy Shelby as they would have liked.

The BBC drama starring Cillian Murphy was criticised by some viewers who said the picture was 'too dark' and it was hard to see what was going on.

In last night's series opener (Sunday, February 27), fans were brought up to date with the crime family, while viewers were also given a tribute to the late Helen McCrory - who played Aunt Polly, the Mirror reports.

Writing on twitter, user Tofu o mamoru @tantan__1go1e said: "Seriously why is Peaky Blinders new episode so dark? its like they are trying to save budget for the lighting crew."

Salem @sabzmzm said: "Is it just me or is Peaky Blinders sooo dark and hard to see?"

Mrs boop @mrsboop2 said: "So annoying, BBC always make the picture too dark!"

There was a lot of support for the returning series , however:

Lysette @proletarian_mya said: "It's better than ever."

Karl Cunliffe wrote: "Cillian Murphy is extraordinary as Tommy Shelby. He absolutely owns the screen. A stunning performance."

Peaky Blinders series six began with Tommy Shelby and the rest of the family saying goodbye to actress Helen McCrory's character Aunt Polly in a poignant scene.

Luke Higgins wrote: "The passing of Polly Gray couldn't have been scripted any better, a perfect tribute to the great Helen McCrory. It takes an incredible cast to have the courage to act out those scenes and they did her proud. Brilliant first episode.
