Four new flavors of Vuse Pro vape pods — peach, berry, watermelon, and fresh mint — are on sale at gas stations and convenience stores in Ohio and select other states, even though the U.S. Food and Drug Administration never authorized them.
The products come from Reynolds American, the U.S. arm of British American Tobacco. Under federal law, no new nicotine or tobacco product may be sold in the United States until the FDA authorizes it. Just 48 e-cigarettes have cleared that bar, and the agency authorized fruit-flavored vapes for the first time only this spring.
