Paulo Dybala belted out Liverpool anthem and said Man Utd transfer "wasn't fair"

Paulo Dybala has been linked with a surprise move to Liverpool - having previously shown a soft spot for the club.

The Reds are said to have ‘contacted’ Dybala to discuss a proposed transfer, although a deal would likely come when he is out of contract in the summer.

Juventus are expecting a concrete proposal in the coming weeks, according to TuttoMercato, with the player free to discuss personal terms with the Reds as his contract expires.

Whilst a big-money move to Anfield would come as a surprise, Dybala would seemingly be keen on a move - and he has made his feelings for Liverpool known before.

Back in June 2020, when the Covid pandemic hit, Dybala took part in a charity FIFA event arranged by Gamers Without Borders to help raise funds for a variety of charities.

He took on Dele Alli in the event and chose to play as Liverpool, claiming two wins against the Tottenham star.

As if that wasn’t enough of a show of admiration, Dybala seemed bitten by the Anfield bug as he belted out their iconic anthem ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’.

Dybala’s singing was enough to get Liverpool fans exited, and now may finally be the time that they get to see a move happen.

It is not the first time Dybala has been linked with the Premier League, either.

In the summer of 2019, he held talks with Manchester United and Tottenham.

But, a year later, he claimed in an interview with CNN that he believed a move “wasn’t fair” as he did not want to leave Juventus under a cloud.

"It was more or less last year at this point when Juventus didn't want to count on me, didn't want me to continue playing here," said the forward.

"That's when I was contacted and there were some clubs that were interested in me. Among those were Manchester United and Tottenham. I think for a long time there were conversations, then Paris Saint-Germain also appeared.

"I did not speak directly to any of them, but there were conversations with the clubs. However, my intention at the time was to stay.

"I hadn't had a good year or a positive last six months, so I didn't want to leave with that image because I think I had given the club a lot of nice moments and it wasn't fair that I went like this.

"So I also communicated that my intention was to stay, work to grow and give my best here.

"Obviously it was not easy because Juventus' intentions were different, but after the market closed, there was no more time and with the arrival of [manager, Maurizio] Sarri I grew a lot. The team started playing football much better and that made me stay.”
