Paul Scholes believes Harry Kane is 'happy where he is' at Tottenham Hotspur in a warning for Manchester United not to try and sign the striker.
United are expected to prioritise a world-class frontman this summer, with Erik ten Hag keen to add more goals and challenge for the Premier League. A number of targets across Europe have been identified, but the Dutchman has earmarked Kane as his first-choice option.
The 29-year-old became Tottenham's all-time top goalscorer this season but major trophies continue to elude him and no secret has been made of his desire to add team honours to his many individual ones. But while United and Ten Hag can offer a better chance at doing so, Scholes has warned against putting too much focus into Kane this summer.

"I think goals are a problem, [United are] a long way behind City and Arsenal at the top of the table goals wise." Scholes told BT Sport. "I think Harry [Kane] is very happy where he is. If he was going to move it would have been to Man City a couple of years ago.
"He would be fantastic, 25 goals guaranteed, but it's very difficult for him to move at 30 years of age. It's a risk as well for Man United, if you put all your eggs in that Harry Kane basket and all of a sudden Daniel Levy is messing you about and you get no one.
"If you get him early, brilliant, but I just think he's very happy at Tottenham doing what he's doing."
An over-reliance on Marcus Rashford to score this season was laid bare during three goalless games in which no one else in red stepped up. The forward's 28 goals are more than three times anyone else at the club this season, with only Bruno Fernandes on double figures behind him.
And Scholes believes that as well as adding goals to the squad, current players could be doing more already.
"I think there are other players than can chip in, Sancho, Antony, Garnacho," the former Reds midfielder added. "You've got to try and get them up to 15 goals if you want a team that can challenge for a league title.
"When I was playing we'd have four strikers trying to get 80 goals between them, if Marcus is doing that on his own and the others aren't chipping in around him it's very difficult.
"If Anthony Martial can stay fit, which is a very big if, he's got 20-25 goals in him as well if he plays a full season. I do think he [Ten Hag] will go into the transfer market, but he also needs to try and get more out of his wide players."
