Paul Scholes highlights Paul Pogba 'mismatch' during dominant Manchester United display

Paul Scholes has picked out Paul Pogba for special praise after taking advantage of his mismatch at Elland Road.

Conditions have thrown up different questions for Manchester United and bitter rivals Leeds United in the Premier League showdown this afternoon.

It was United who answered them more convincingly during the opening 45 minutes, though, as England defender Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes put them in control.

United might have been out of sight had Cristiano Ronaldo turned home from close range.

That opportunity was put on a plate to the five-time Ballon d'Or winner by Pogba, who excelled and got the better of Adam Forshaw on more than one occasion.

Out of contract this summer, the World Cup winner is expected to leave Old Trafford on a free transfer for a second time, but has performed well since returning from a thigh injury.

Down but not out, Leeds piled on heavy pressure early in the second half and restored parity through Rodrigo and Brazilian forward Raphinha - with that equaliser coming after VAR intervened and adjudged there had been no foul committed on Fernandes.

United substitute Fred then made it 3-2 in a topsy-turvy game, shortly after replacing Pogba. Anthony Elanga settled the scores.

Speaking about his display, ex-United player Scholes told Premier League Productions : "It's been quite comfortable for United. They started the game really well.

"Pogba has been really good him against Forshaw is a bit of a mismatch really. United are good value for this. I think they've started off great although Leeds have been disappointing."
