Manchester United legend Paul Scholes believes that new signing Casemiro will 'help' Scott McTominay and Fred by allowing them to play further up the pitch. United completed the signing of the midfielder for £60million rising to £70m, with the 30-year-old signing a four-year contract with the option of an additional year at Old Trafford.
He was paraded on the Old Trafford pitch ahead of United 's Premier League visit of Liverpool, but was unable to feature as it was too late for him to be registered for the match.
However, the Brazilian was named on the bench for Erik ten Hag's side's clash with Southampton on Saturday afternoon.

United legend Scholes, who was working as a pundit for BT Sport for the match at St Mary's Stadium, suggested that the former Madrid man will add much-needed experience to the team's midfield.
He also claimed that the signing of Casemiro will allow Fred and McTominay to play further up the pitch in matches.
"He will bring great experience to this midfield. There’s young lads in this team, Scott and Fred, not so young but I think he’ll help them," Scholes said on BT Sport.
"Looking at Scott and Fred I always thought they played better further up the pitch, going forward, they can be creative they’ve actually been asked to play a sitting role and I don’t think either of them are that good at it.
"They’re great at controlling games but I don’t think defensively, Casemiro can allow these players to go and flourish."
McTominay has made 173 appearances for United, while Fred - who arrived at the club in 2018 - has registered 160 appearances.
