Paul Pogba: Manchester United confirm midfielder will leave club again when contract expires this summer

Manchester United have confirmed Paul Pogba's exit from the club on a free, for the second time.

As in 2012, the player has run down his contract and will depart Old Trafford on a Bosman deal, with Juventus his most likely destination just as it was a decade ago.

Pogba returned to United in 2016 in a club-record £89million move but has largely failed to live up to his reputation as one of the world's best midfielders.

The World Cup winner won the EFL Cup and Europa League during six years back at the club.

A lengthy statement from United concludes: "For a boy that joined the Academy at 16 to make over 200 United appearances and lift the Youth Cup, along with two major pieces of silverware – not to mention the World Cup at international level – is something that should be applauded and celebrated.

"Everyone at the club would like to congratulate Paul on his successful career, and thank him for his contributions to Manchester United.

"We wish him all the best for the next steps on a remarkable journey."
