Similar admissions from Paul Pogba and Luke Shaw may provide Harry Kane with a warning ahead of the next transfer window. The England captain was involved in a transfer saga last year, with a move to Manchester City the main footballing talking point last summer.
Kane remained a Tottenham player when the 2021/22 season began and after a slow start, he has found his form once again. Working with Antonio Conte has been a boost for the striker and keeping both at Spurs could depend on how the final nine games of the season pan out.
The Lilywhites are currently fifth in the Premier League, just three points behind fourth-placed Arsenal, who have a game in hand on their north London rivals. Securing a Champions League spot for next season could not only be vital in attracting potential transfer targets, but also crucial if they are to keep the likes of Kane and Conte in N17.

Talks about Kane's exit from Tottenham when the summer window opens have already begun and even if he was let go by Daniel Levy, it would come at a heavy price, with his current market value sitting at £90million according to Transfermarkt. Man United are one club that some reports have suggested could target the 28-year-old.
The Red Devils have uncertainty over not only a Champions League place but also who will be in charge next season. Ralf Rangnick is only an interim manager until the end of the season, with the likes of Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag both linked with moves to Old Trafford.
United are currently sixth in the league, a point and a place behind Tottenham, but their hopes of a top four spot are slipping away. If they don't manage to secure Champions League football, they would find it hard to attract a player like Kane, who has previously stated that he wants to be playing in the best leagues.
Not only that, but some recent worrying admissions from both Pogba and Shaw, highlight the mess that is currently going on. "I can decide tomorrow, as I can decide during the transfer window. I want to come back, finish the season well," the French international explained, reiterating that his future at the club hadn't been finalised.
"The season is not over yet, but almost because we don't have any more titles to play for. I want to win titles, to play for something and this year and the last few years we haven't won a title. It's sad."
This struggle to secure silverware is something both Pogba and United have experienced in the past and which Tottenham are still struggling with, with their trophy drought extended to 14 years this season. If Kane doesn't feel he can find the best at his current club, he may decide to move on.
Shaw is currently on international duty with Kane and the England squad and although he explained that it wasn't a dig towards his club, it could still highlight some of the potential problems at United. "The environment here that Gareth [Southgate] creates, you always enjoy it," the 26-year-old told Sky Sports, via the Mirror, after scoring for England in their 2-1 victory over Switzerland.
"I think when I come here [to England], for me it's about enjoyment, playing games with a smile on my face and enjoying it. I feel like here, when I come here I always do that, we all love playing for our country.
"It's always important to feel like you're wanted. Especially here, I always feel that. I'm not saying I don't at United but especially here, the way things are, I feel wanted, I enjoy my football. The big part of football is enjoyment," Shaw added.
The 26-year-old's comments do seem to indicate that even if he is happy playing with his club, he is even happier when on duty with his country. Both of the United players' comments point towards problems at United and they are both likely to be somewhat unhappy, due to some of the recent results and lack of silverware.
It is hard to know what is going on behind closed doors at United, but if results aren't as good as they should be on the pitch, there is uncertainty over next season's manager and players are saying some concerning things, it could be a warning to Kane before the transfer window even opens. For now, Tottenham and the England captain will want to focus on finishing the season in the strongest position possible, before assessing the options during the summer.
