Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard pay tribute to each other after Manchester United exits confirmed

Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard marked their departures from Manchester United as the pair paid tribute to each other on social media.

United confirmed the respective exits of both players on Wednesday, with Lingard’s departure being announced just hours after Pogba’s. They will officially leave the club when their contracts expire at the end of the month.

Neither departure will come as a shock to fans, with both players having had their exits on the cards for some time. Lingard and Pogba were part of the United side that won the 2011 FA Youth Cup before being split up after the latter’s move to Juventus. They were reunited just four years later and will now leave the club together.

Following confirmation of their departures, both players shared their own farewell messages as they reflected on their time at Old Trafford. On Thursday, Pogba paid tribute to his teammate, posting a picture of himself with Lingard captioned "my bro" along with a love heart emoji.

Lingard responded by reposting the image to his story, writing "day 1" in reference to their time together at United’s academy. Lingard also posted a series of images of the pair together at various points throughout their time at the club.

Reflecting on his departure from United on Wednesday, Lingard wrote on social media: “Born and bred a red. Over the last few weeks, I've been emotional about leaving a club that is family.

“After 22 years I’ve had so many special memories and moments that I will cherish forever. Man Utd will always remain in my heart. A massive thank you.”

Pogba also posted his own farewell message, writing: “I feel privileged to have played for this club. Many beautiful moments and memories but most importantly an unconditional support from the fans. Thank you @ManUtd.”
