Paul O'Grady show returns to ITV after his death

A Paul O'Grady show returns to ITV on Tuesday evening some three months after the entertainer's death.

The TV star, from Birkenhead, died at his home in Kent, aged 67, on March 28. Paul was known for his alter ego Lily Savage, as well as for presenting a number of programmes including For the Love of Dogs.

His love and compassion for animals extended to people, too, and in 2018 Paul filmed Paul O'Grady's Little Heroes.

The programme saw Paul visit brave children who were sadly battling illnesses at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. Paul, who used to be a social worker, followed the journeys of some of the incredible children, their families, and the staff at the hospital.

ITV will air the first episode of season two of the show from Tuesday (June 27) at 8pm. The following episodes will air weekly at the same time.

The first instalment sees Paul meet five-year-old chatterbox Daniel, who has been confined to a wheelchair for two weeks after being struck down out of the blue by juvenile idiopathic arthritis. He also speaks to 14-year-old Reagan, who has scoliosis, a progressive condition that has left her with an ever-increasing curvature in her spine, and 17-year-old Gavriel, who has Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

The show's second season originally aired in September 2019.
