Paul O'Grady's zoo home he shares with alpacas, birds and goats

Paul O'Grady shares his home with a handful of interesting animals he couldn't turn away.

The comedian and presenter admitted long ago he struggles to say no to a pup in need which has resulted in his house overrun with animals over the years.

Paul picks the majority of dogs up from the Battersea dog home which is the location he films For The Love Of Dogs - the award-winning programme that follows the shelter recovering and rehousing reduced animals.

His expansive collection of pets has resulted in him moving out of a standard home and into a farm which now includes pigs and llamas. The 67-year-old presumably lives with his long-term partner, Andre Portasio, who he married back in 2017.

While Andre rarely appears on his Instagram, his many four-legged friends constantly pop up here and there. It's thought he has five dogs, named Nancy, Arfur, Conchita, Eddie and Sausage. Nancy came from Battersea in 2020 as Paul said: "As Battersea Dogs and Cats Home had closed temporarily and I’d been filming there we were asked if we’d like to foster a dog.

"I’d grown quite fond of this little pup so I took her home. Of course, I fully intended to keep her from the start and I’ve called her Nancy."

Nancy and the others run freely around a cute, country-themed property with light brown wooden floors, open wood walls and flowery paper. Adding a pop of colour to the decor, the wooden shelves and drawers around their home are a bright, colourful touch.

His leopard print armchair is a striking statement piece he's shown off several times whilst sharing his thoughts online. During lockdown, Paul doubled his bedroom up as a recording room for his radio show, with Arfur often leaning towards the microphone. Later on, he admitted he had to switch his studio as the noise behind was becoming a bit much.

With things cosy and warm inside, the outside is a little more chaotic as La Verne, Patty and Maxine the alpacas were all pregnant not long ago, which means the farm has only gotten bigger.

Alongside the interesting choice of pets are goats and a flock of birds including chickens and owls to attend to. Sharing them online, he said: "There’s a real learning curve to living in a rural community.

"I wake up some mornings and open the curtains and there’s a thick fog and it is freezing and I’ve got to get out and feed all the bloody animals and the boiler’s packed in again, the electricity’s gone, the oil man can’t get out."
