Donations to Paul O’Grady’s beloved animal centre look set to hit £100,000 this weekend.
A “tribute fund” in memory of the star, who passed away on Tuesday aged 67, had last night racked up £90,000 and could smash through the £100,000 barrier this weekend. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home said it has been “overwhelmed and touched” by the reaction of the public after the TV star's death.
Chief Executive Peter Laurie said the charity – which featured in the comic’s TV show Paul O’Grady: For the Love of Dogs – had received countless letters, calls, emails and messages of support. All the money donated will go towards the running of the charity, which has featured in 10 series of the hit ITV show.
