Paul O'Grady's death sparks £100,000 wave of love for animal charity featured on his popular For the Love of Dogs TV show

Paul O'Grady's beloved animal charity looks set to receive up to £100,000 in donations this weekend following the star's sudden death last week.

Peter Laurie, the chief executive of Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, said the centre has been “overwhelmed and touched” by the reaction of the public. He said the charity, which features on the comic’s TV show Paul O’Grady: For the Love of Dogs, has been inundated with letters, calls, emails and messages of support.

A “tribute fund” in memory of the star, who passed away on Tuesday aged 67, had last night racked up £90,000 and could smash through the £100,000 barrier this weekend. All the money donated will go towards the running of the much-loved charity, which has featured in 10 series of the hit ITV show, reports the Mirror.
