Paul O'Grady once starred in a BBC sitcom set in the heart of Liverpool.
Eyes Down aired on BBC One on August 15, 2003 and followed the life of bingo hall manager Ray Temple, played by Paul. His character was ill-tempered and described as "somewhat pompous" as he dealt with his hapless staff at "The Rio" bingo hall.
According to the BBC press release at the time Paul's character "hated" his job, his staff, the punters and people in general. Written by fellow Scouser Angela Clarke, the show also starred Rosie Cavaliero as Christine, Sheridan Smith as Sandy and Tony Maudsley as Martin.

Following his death on March 28, co-star Sheridan paid tribute to her friend. She shared a cast picture of them working together on BBC's Eyes Down in 2003.
She captioned the post as she wrote: "Heartbroken by this news. Did one of my first ever TV jobs with Paul (Eyes Down) in 2003, he was a friend till the end."
Sheridan added: "As real and genuine as they come. Will never forget his kindness, fun and constant support. A working class hero. What a loss. Will miss you Lily."
Paul O'Grady died at the age of 67, his husband Andre Portasio confirmed. In a statement, he said: "It is with great sadness that I inform you that Paul has passed away unexpectedly but peacefully yesterday evening.
"We ask, at this difficult time, that whilst you celebrate his life you also respect our privacy as we come to terms with this loss. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, friends, family, animals and all those who enjoyed his humour, wit and compassion."
Throughout his career Paul won numerous accolades including a TV Bafta, a British Comedy Award, and a National Television Award for The Paul O'Grady Show. He was made an MBE in the 2008 Queen's Birthday Honours for services to entertainment.
