Paul O’Grady returns with a brand-new episode of For The Love of Dogs with a very special royal guest.
The 67-year-old comedian met with the The Queen Consort Camilla at Clarence House as they celebrate the 160th anniversary of Battersea Dogs Home.
Camilla will make a one-off appearance on the hour-long special, as a distinguished supporter of the dog shelter that has faced one of it’s busiest years to date.
After the pandemic, many dogs have been rehomed due to their behaviour and this has only accelerated in the cost-of-living crisis as owners can’t afford to vet bills or to take care of their pets.
At the time of filming, Camilla was still the Duchess of Cornwall and alongside her host, Paul, they searched for new ways to comfort and assist the dogs with their unique needs.
This included teaching a blind dog to figure out his path through an area, to reassuring nervous and neglected dogs that they are safe and loved.
After their work at the shelter, Paul also takes some dogs to their home, Clarence House, where Camilla held a garden party with her esteemed friends.
The party was held with the hope that these animals would be rescued and find their forever home with new owners, such as Reggie, an eight-year-old giant Schnauzer who had a life-threatening gastric issue.
The royal special of Paul O’Grady: For The Love of Dogs will air on Monday 19 December at 9pm on ITV1 and will be available to stream on ITVX.
It is one of the many recent appearances the Royal Family has made in popular shows such as King Charles III going onto The Repair Shop and Grand Designs.
On The Repair Shop, Charles set Jay Blades and his team the task of repairing an intricate clock and a vase of Queen Victoria’s.
However, many viewers were distracted by sweet moments such as Jay giving the King a HRH mug to drink tea from standing for His Royal Highness, as well as chats about the importance of apprenticeships for young people.
