Paul O'Grady fans emotional as husband shares last photo of them together

Paul O'Grady's husband has received a raft of support after sharing the last photo the two of them ever took together.

It's the first message Andre Portasio has sent after initially breaking the tragic news Paul had died on Wednesday. At the time, Mr Portasio said: "It is with great sadness that I inform you that Paul has passed away unexpectedly but peacefully yesterday evening.

"We ask, at this difficult time, that whilst you celebrate his life you also respect our privacy as we come to terms with this loss. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, friends, family, animals and all those who enjoyed his humour, wit and compassion."

On Friday, Mr Portasio shared a photo of himself and Paul on holiday together on his Instagram page. Both look happy in the snap, as they sail along the clear blue ocean.

Captioning the photo, Mr Portasio said: "In time I hope to write to everyone individually and thank you for all posts, messages, phone calls, emails, cards and flowers of support. I much appreciate you all taking the time to reach out. I’m so very touched and I’m sure Paul would be too!

"Browsing for a picture I found the last picture we ever took together. Unbeknownst to us back in January this would be our last ever holiday together."

Fans have rushed to offer their support in the comments section. Ant said: "Andre, I don't know you but just wanted to pass on my deepest sympathies to you. I can't imagine what you are going through right now. The whole nation is feeling the loss of Paul and nobody more so than you. Sending you so so much love at this time. The nation loved Paul, but to you he was just simply, YOUR Paul".

Paula said: "I’ve hardly stopped crying since I read the sad news I can’t imagine how empty your life will feel without Paul but our thoughts are with you", while Gloria said: "Lovely photo, I am so very sorry. Thinking of you and sending love".
