Paul Mescal has said he’s “very excited” to attend the Oscar’s next month.
The Kildare native jetted into Dublin on Thursday night to launch the Dublin International Film Festival with his movie God’s Creatures. The star, who plays Brian O’Hara in the dark psychological thriller, declined to talk to most of the waiting press but shouted that he was “very excited” for the Oscar’s.
Actress Emily Watson, who plays his mother, Aileen O’Hara, walked the red carpet and praised her co-star, describing him as an “adorable young man”.

She said: "It was amazing (to work with Paul). It was the second thing he did.
“To know him is to love him and he is an adorable young man and so talented.” She said his notoriety is “a lot” to take it but added: “he’s doing pretty good”.
“He’s very grounded. He’s got his family around him.
“And I’m just like, ‘enjoy it’.”
