Paul Mescal’s mother has said she is “nervous, excited and joyous” for her son ahead of the BAFTAs.
Dearbhla and Paul Mescal flew to London for the weekend to support the Aftersun star, who is up for Best Actor at the BAFTAs.
The couple have been enjoying their time ahead of the ceremony, but they admitted they were nervous for the 27-year-old Kildare native.

Dearbhla told her followers on her Instagram Stories hours before the ceremony kicked off: “I’m nervous, excited, joyous, happy. I’m not actually too sure what else, all the other emotions but we’re in good form.”
Paul’s father Paul Snr joked that “everything was in control” before making a nervous gesture to the camera.
Last month it was revealed Dearbhla is undergoing chemotherapy treatment for a type of bone marrow cancer.
She is hoping to fly to the US next month where Paul is up for an Oscar for Best Actor at the Academy Awards.
Speaking to Morning Ireland last month, Dearbhla said: “I'd like to be on that side of the world. I would like to be near him… I have multiple myeloma, so I'm just waiting for that next stage. So, it all depends, but life is good. Life is pretty magical right now and you can take the hits when things are good around you.”
Paul previously admitted his nominations have been a welcome distraction for his family.
"There's stuff going on at home that is difficult and this has given my family a very welcome respite, and we're going to have a great time as a family. They're all coming out to LA."
