Paul Mescal's mam Dearbhla retires from An Garda Siochana after three decades

Dearbhla, the mother of Normal People star Paul Mescal, celebrated her retirement from An Garda Siochana after 30 years.

The Maynooth mother stated that she hopes other workers within the gardai understand the value of their work, despite there being "little thanks", RSVP Live reported. She recently had cancer treatment for multiple myeloma, and after marking her retirement, she said that she will be concentrating her time and energy on healing, adventures and living.

"My life has another change today … I retire from An Garda Síochána after 30 years," she wrote.
