Singer Paul Heaton is putting money behind the bar of several Yorkshire pubs in celebration of his 60th birthday.
The East Yorkshire performing star, best known for his days in band Housemartins as the frontman, originally planned to perform at 60 pubs on a bicycle tour in celebration of the milestone. But after pandemic delays he decided he wanted to do something different, and is now giving back to pubs.
Paul, who lived in Sheffield as a child, has now announced a list of 60 different UK pubs where people can enjoy a drink for free in his honour. And the good news for Yorkshire folk is that there are 7 pubs to choose from for a chance of a free drink.

In a Facebook post, he wrote: "Both regulars and yourselves can enjoy a birthday drink on me (until the money runs out, or the bar runs dry!).
"The hope is to bring people together on the day, whilst recognising that many folk who bought my records or showed me support over the years, could do with a wee party, as we come out of Covid and hit potential financial struggles.
"I’ll announce the full list of pubs and locations tomorrow, so if there’s one near you please head over on Monday, show your support and raise a toast to me on my birthday!"
Paul will be handpicking the pub selection himself. Fans praised Paul and branded him a "legend".
