Paul Dans has resigned as director of Project 2025, a conservative initiative aimed at shaping a potential second term for former President Donald Trump. The departure follows criticism, including from Trump himself, and was confirmed by Kevin Roberts, president of the Heritage Foundation, the organization behind Project 2025. Dans, who previously held a senior position in the Trump administration, led the project in bringing together over 110 conservative organizations to develop a unified vision focused on reducing the power of the administrative state and empowering the people.
Project 2025 was designed to provide a blueprint for the first 180 days of the next Republican president's term. While the conservative proposals outlined in the project drew scrutiny from Democrats, Trump sought to distance himself from Heritage's work, claiming ignorance of its origins. Trump's campaign managers emphasized that Project 2025 was not affiliated with the campaign and should not be associated with the President.
In response to reports of Dans' resignation, Trump's campaign managers warned against misrepresenting any influence with the President or his campaign, indicating potential consequences for those attempting to do so. Notably, over 140 individuals who had served in the Trump administration were involved in Project 2025, underscoring its ties to the former administration.
