Paul Chuckle has paid tribute to his late brother Barry on the eighth anniversary of his death.
The pair rose to fame as comedic duo the Chuckle Brothers, and became a staple in British homes in the 1980s with their long-running TV show, ChuckleVision.
They performed together for over five decades until Barry died from bone cancer aged 73 in 2018.
His younger brother, whose real name is Paul Elliott, took to social media on Wednesday with a sweet post dedicated to Barry.
The veteran entertainer, 78, shared an image of himself and his brother and comedy partner both holding a giant block which read “to me, to you” – a nod to one of their catchphrases from their hit TV show.
Beneath the post, Elliott wrote: “It’s been eight years now but seems like yesterday… Miss you Baz.”
Actress and writer Sue Vincent was among the commenters offering their condolences, and referenced her role alongside Elliott in The Madame Blanc Mysteries – in which he played her father.
“So much love my darling dad,” she wrote, following the kind words with three heart emojis.
The TV star previously described the loss of his brother as “devastating”, saying it was “like losing my right arm”.
In recent years, Elliott has become a passionate advocate and fundraiser for Marie Curie – a charity which provided end-of-life care for his brother.
He was recognised as a Member of the Order of the British Empire in the King’s New Year Honours list for his charitable service.
Paul and Barry were born in Rotherham and got their break winning TV’s Opportunity Knocks in 1967.
They went on to appear in many comedy programmes together landing their own show – ChuckleVision – which made them household names and was a ratings winner, running for 21 series from 1987 to 2009.
The brothers were still touring and performing in packed theatres, nightclubs and student venues until shortly before Barry’s death.
In 2008, they were honoured with the special award at the Bafta children’s awards.
