Paul Burrell reckons 'two angels' Princess Diana and Queen were with him during I'm a Celeb All Stars

Former Royal butler Paul Burrell appeared on Lorraine's Friday morning show as he opened up about his I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! All Stars appearance which will air next week.

Paul, 64, spoke openly about his experiences in the jungle, alongside the challenges he faced, while filming the hit ITV show in South Africa in September last year. And he revealed Queen Elizabeth II while he was there.

He told Lorraine his reasons for not leaving the show, and instead mourning the monarch's death with his fellow campmates, as he spoke of having "two angels" on his shoulders in the form of the Queen and Princess Diana, who he famously worked for.

He added: "I went to Buckingham Palace when I was 18 years old, she [Queen Elizabeth] became my surrogate mother.

"I know it's hard for people to understand but living in close proximity to someone for 11 years you do begin to love them and I loved the Queen she was a wonderful lady."

"For me, she influenced my life, she shaped me along with Diana they made me the man I am today. I have great respect and admiration for my late Queen." he continued.

Paul also gave viewers on Friday morning an update on his cancer battle, having proudly rang the bell earlier this month marking the end of his treatment.

He revealed he had prostate cancer earlier this year, saying: "You realise that there are thousands of men like me that had no symptoms, I didn't realise what was happening and it could be too late."

Paul was asymptomatic, but a blood test last summer revealed high levels of PSA, a chemical released by the prostate gland. A follow-up MRI scan revealed prostate cancer, according to the Mirror.

Paul, who has called himself Princess Diana’s “rock”, has said he wants to share certain secrets with her sons, hoping to heal their rift.

But he told of his fears he will run out of time to tell Princes William and Harry “the truth”

Paul added: “She confided in me.”

I'm A Celebrity South Africa will air on ITV1 and ITVX this spring with a reported start date of Monday, 24 April.
