Former GAA star Paul Brogan has hit back at the Dancing With The Stars judges – saying their low scoring for his steamy samba was “harsh”.
On Sunday night’s show on RTE One, Paul and his pro dance partner Salome Chachua steamed up our screens with their samba, with many saying the couple needed to “take a cold shower afterwards”.
But the judges weren’t so complimentary over Brogan’s hip action, with judge Brian Redmond saying the Dublin footballer’s “thrusting” cleverly disguised some poor steps, before the judges awarded him a total score of 14 out of 30.

Speaking after the show, Paul said he thought the scores were “harsh”.
“Yeah, I thought those scores were very harsh. This samba… they say it's the most difficult dance to get but as they were saying there that is the best I’ve done it. If I probably did it another ten times, I wouldn’t get it as good as that.”
Salome agreed, saying: “It’s the second live show and the samba is not easy, so I’m absolutely amazed by Paul…”
He joked that despite his raunchy moves on the dance floor, he has yet to grab any attention from admirers on social media.
Paul also revealed he isn’t as nervous as the show continues to week three this Sunday – but said it’s more nerve-wracking than playing in Croke Park.
“Yeah definitely. I’m not as nervous… like I was very nervous before the first show. I was a bit uptight about it and would be overthinking a few things… you’re still nervous there but it was a little bit easier.
“We said that when you’re playing sports…. This is way tougher (than a day in Croke Park). Even the two lads I was talking to… Shane (Byrne) was saying the same… it is different. But we’ll keep going, that’s what we do.”
Salome praised Brogan, saying: “This is everything for him the first time and he’s doing really well.”
But he joked he’s getting plenty of slagging from his famous GAA brothers Alan and Bernard.
“I am yeah but it’s all love (from Bernard and Alan Brogan) but if you’re coming on this, you’re going to expect that but it’s all good. If I wasn’t getting it, I’d be asking why I wasn’t getting it so.”
And he admitted former Dancing With The Stars winner Aidan O’Mahony and Denis Bastick encouraged him to take up the offer to go on the show.
“I actually rang Aidan O’Mahony and asked what was his opinion on it and he said go for it, you’ enjoy yourself. He said it’s tough, but you’ll be fine. Same with Denis Bastick,” he added.
