Patsy Kensit's fiancé Patric Cassidy was still with his ex-partner up until the day before he proposed to the actress it has been revealed - by the other woman in question herself.
Just hours prior to popping the question to former Emmerdale star Patsy, multi-millionaire property tycoon Patric, 58, was still dating 39-year old Julia Simons.
However, that all changed after he sent her a text message telling her their relationship was over and that she "needed someone near her own age".
Julia, from Birmingham, now has a warning for Patsy about the man she says was still showering her gifts until their final moments together.
"It’s not fair on her, or me," she told the Sun. "I had no clue he was dating Patsy as well. I feel so sorry for her. I hope she sees him for what he truly is — a heartless love rat."
Following a five-week romance, Patric is said to have proposed to 54-year old mother-of-two Patsy in a packed out Scott's restaurant in London before purchasing champagne to everyone in the room.
Patric and Julia had first hooked up in July when the pair met at Edgbaston cricket ground.
The pair were soon wining and dining together and the early signs looked great for the hostess.
"He gave me his card with his number and told me he’d left me a note but not to read it until he had gone," Julia told the same publication.
"He was so charming and romantic. I thought he was an old-school gentleman. He was really funny and we had a great time."
That all changed on September 6, however, when the text message to cancel a meal out together proved to be the end of their relationship.
Patsy was previously married to Dan Donovan, Jim Kerr, Oasis' Liam Gallagher and DJ Jeremy Healy. The former Holby City actress shares son Lennon, 22, with Liam and son James, 28, with Jim - who both used to live with her in north London.
After splitting from her fourth husband in 2010, Patsy vowed never to get married again – explaining how the split from DJ Healy left her depressed and feeling 'foolish and ashamed'.
Discussing the divorce at the time she said: "This year has been truly, truly awful. I lost my confidence and ballooned from eight stone to 11.
"But I'm looking forward now, with one million per cent conviction, that I definitely won't be getting married again," she added to She magazine.
