Patriots veteran wide receiver sees progress in the ongoing rebuild

New England Patriots wide receiver Kendrick Bourne is seeing progress in the midst of a difficult season for the Patriots organization.

The wide receiver was brought to New England in March 2021. He has quickly become a reliable veteran in a Patriots receivers room that has not had a ton of consistency over the past couple of years. He was rewarded for his efforts, signing a three-year $19.5 million contract extension this past offseason.

The wide receiver has gone through the gauntlet over the past couple of months, as he is working his way back from an ACL injury from over a year ago. He has had an up-and-down year, including being benched at one point to get the younger players more playing time.

Nevertheless, he enjoys New England and sees progress in the future.

“I love this place. I have a real soft spot for New England… I think we’re better than where we were at at the beginning of the year,” said Bourne, via CLNS’ Mike Kadlick.

Bourne has become more than just a productive wide receiver. He has also been a stabilizing veteran force in a locker room that has undergone a ton of change.

It is fair to say that he is the kind of player/personality teams would want on their roster during a rebuild.
