When we started working on this 2024 NFL mock draft for the New England Patriots, the entire premise had to be built around whether or not to stand pat at quarterback. For us, there is no way the Patriots can be happy with what they have and in a draft class so deep at quarterback, they didn’t even need to spend a first-round pick.
First round - OT Olu Fashanu, Penn State
With the top two quarterbacks off the board, it’s an easy choice for the Patriots to opt for Olu Fashanu who is easily the top offensive tackle in this draft class.
Second round - QB Michael Penix Jr., Washington
No way could the Patriots pass on Penix here. He is having a huge season and represents the total package as a thrower and passer.
Third round - WR J. Michael Sturdivant, UCLA
If you are going to draft your franchise quarterback it only makes sense to get him a big-play wide receiver in the same draft. Sturdivant has blazing deep speed but is more than just a go-route guy.
Fourth round - S/LB James Williams, Miami
Williams is a huge athletic safety who could end up a hybrid coverage linebacker who can move all over in the back seven.
