In what has been a downward spiral of a season for the New England Patriots, they look prepared to take some risks in order to provide any sort of spark to an anemic offense. With the signing of their electric pre-season quarterback Malik Cunningham, we could see that spark come in a very unconventional way.
Cunningham impressed in his limited snaps at quarterback during the preseason, including a highlight run and New England’s only touchdown in their preseason opener.
Wow. The #Patriots are signing Malik Cunningham to their active roster, according to @RapSheet.
It’s a three-year contract.pic.twitter.com/GMqCrgexi3

It’s not exactly clear how New England plans on using their electric new weapon, and it seems unlikely he will steal snaps from Mac Jones barring a disaster of a game. Cunningham signed a three-year contract so he clearly impressed the coaching staff, and it was a contract that designated him both as a wide receiver and quarterback, so he could see snaps in both areas. It will be interesting to see if Cunningham can be the guy that gets this Patriots offense moving.
