The New England Patriots announced they have released third-year offensive guard Liam Fornadel from the practice squad on Tuesday.
Fornadel went undrafted out of James Madison in 2022 and spent two years hopping between the Canadian Football League and XFL, before finally getting his NFL break by signing with the Patriots over the summer.
He landed on New England’s practice squad and never saw game action with the team.
The Patriots have left no stone unturned in their search for offensive line help throughout the season. With Mike Onwenu contributing at right tackle and center David Andrews out with a season-ending injury, there have been multiple opportunities for players like Fornadel to stand out as an interior blocker.
But he was never able to find a legitimate role on the team. With the season nearing an end, Fornadel will now look to see if he can land elsewhere ahead of the 2025 offseason.
