The New England Patriots secured a small victory this week before they even step on the field against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
The Chicago Bears beat the Carolina Panthers on Thursday night, which moves the Patriots up to the fourth spot in the 2024 NFL draft order.
This is good news for those hoping to see the Patriots tank for a top draft pick, as it gets the team closer to earning a top-three pick. Of course, that’s assuming they can continue losing football games. If they win against the Colts, they would go back to being the fifth overall pick.
They’d have a shot at sinking even further if they get beat by the Colts and then go on to lose to the New York Giants in Week 12. The top-10 draft order currently sits as follows:
- Chicago Bears (3-7)
- Arizona Cardinals (1-8)
- New York Giants (2-7)
- New England Patriots (2-7)
- Chicago Bears (3-7)
- Los Angeles Rams (3-6)
- Green Bay Packers (3-5)
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-5)
- Denver Broncos (3-5)
- Tennessee Titans (3-5)
This has been a difficult season for the Patriots organization. Landing a high draft pick for 2024 would go a long way towards aiding in an expected rebuild.
