News of Dalvin Cook’s release from the Minnesota Vikings barely had time to sink in before ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the Miami Dolphins are one of two teams expected to pursue the four-time Pro Bowl running back.
Cue the eye rolls from New England Patriots fans.
The AFC East has gone from MacGruber and friends to The Avengers overnight. Cook potentially joining a Dolphins skilled position group that already has Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle and Chosen Anderson is mind-blowing. That goes without mentioning the defense, which now has Jalen Ramsey and Xavien Howard in the backfield.
Clearly, the Dolphins won’t be the only team vying for Cook’s services. Schefter also mentioned the Denver Broncos as one of the interested teams. Others teams will likely also come to the table at some point with Cook as a free agent and trade compensation no longer part of the equation.
The Miami Dolphins and Denver Broncos are two of the teams that are expected to have an interest in signing running back Dalvin Cook once he officially is released, per sources. There likely will be others, but those two have been monitoring Cook for weeks.

The Dolphins are already a burgeoning juggernaut on paper, and adding an elite playmaker like Cook could turn them into favorites to win an AFC East division that is suddenly the best in football.
