Patrick Vieira names Liverpool star 'you're not going to notice' as most like him

Being compared to Patrick Vieira is one the highest compliments a midfielder can get, even more so when it's by the World Cup winner himself.

Now manager of Crystal Palace, the 46-year-old was recently asked by Sky Sports to name the Premier League player who reminds him most of himself from his time as a player and the answer lies in Jurgen Klopp's team.

Vieira highlighted Fabinho as his key man and believes that the Brazilian often doesn't get the credit that he deserves.

Speaking on Sky Sports' Football YouTube channel, he said: “Fabinho from Liverpool, I think he’s a team player who is working really hard to compose the hold in the team, he can play as well, he’s really comfortable on the ball. He’s a type of player you’re not going to notice, but they make everyone around them look really good.”

Fabinho was back in the starting line-up for Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday as the Reds produced a relentless performance to maul Scott Parker's Bournemouth 9-0. The midfielder later posted on Instagram: "What a beautiful afternoon at Anfield. This is Liverpool!"

Vieira's Palace side took a point from the Reds after a 1-1 draw in Liverpool's first home game of the season.

The Frenchman was widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of his generation, winning three Premier League titles with Arsenal before going on to achieve four Serie A titles with Inter Milan, to add to the one he had previously won with city neighbours AC Milan.

Fabinho joined the Reds from Monaco in 2018 for a reported fee of £39million. He has gone on to make 175 appearances for the Reds, scoring 11 goals and winning almost every major trophy possible.
