Patrick Vieira makes 'naive' Crystal Palace claim following Nottingham Forest defeat

Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira says his side were too naive in the second half of their Premier League game against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

The Eagles suffered their fifth defeat of the season at City Ground, losing by a single goal after Morgan Gibbs-White secured all three points with his 54th minute strike past Vicente Guaita.

Palace had failed with a golden chance to take the lead the game themselves when Wilfried Zaha won a penalty in the first half, only for the Ivorian to then send his spot-kick well wide of Dean Henderson's post.

Forest, who started the day bottom of the table, improved after the break, though Vieira was upset at full-time that Palace, who had 68 per cent possession in the game, couldn't make their domination of the ball count.

“The performance went down [after half-time] but overall I think in the first-half we competed and we played some good football and then in the second-half we couldn’t create anything,” he told the club website.

“They made it really difficult with the number of people they had behind the ball. We were a bit naive in the second-half. Away from home we should manage the game better, and if we don’t win that game we shouldn’t lose it.”

“The game overall reflects our season so far. We showed some good stuff but there is a lack of consistency, a lack of being aggressive in both boxes. In a good period of the game we didn’t score that goal, because if we score that goal it would be completely different.”
