Dad bods are still in trend, as evidenced by Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes embracing his physique despite facing body-shaming comments from netizens in January. Mahomes humorously referred to it as “DadBodSZN” in a recent Instagram post where he was seen working out with Chiefs receivers Hollywood Brown and Rashee Rice.
During their gym session, Rice playfully teased Mahomes by wearing a T-shirt featuring a photo of the quarterback shirtless. This light-hearted banter followed a viral NFL video showing Mahomes celebrating his team’s AFC Championship win shirtless, which led to online criticism regarding his appearance.
Some social media users resorted to body-shaming, with derogatory nicknames like “Fatrick Calzones” and “Patty Big Body” being thrown at Mahomes. However, many fans came to his defense, expressing admiration for his physique and highlighting his talent and character.
Responding to the comments, Mahomes joined in on the fun by jokingly questioning why he was being targeted and emphasizing the reality of having children. He shares two kids, a daughter named Sterling, 3, and a son named Bronze, 1, with his wife Brittany Mahomes.
Brittany also made headlines earlier this year for her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit debut as part of the rookie class for 2024. The couple's positive attitude towards body image and their respective achievements have garnered support and admiration from fans.
